Arena Show TV Special

You might know that there's a Dragons arena show in the works, and if you're like me, there's probably one thing on you're mind: what will the Night Fury look like?

Well, for the first time, they're going to show us. On February 4, the TV special How to Train Your Dragon Comes to Life will air on Seven Network in Australia. It promises to describe the process behind creating the giant dragon puppets and, yes, will give us the first ever glimpse of their Toothless model. Theatrepeople.com.au explains:

The television special will feature the cast and crew preparing for the show’s WORLD PREMIERE in Melbourne in March. The star dragon of the show TOOTHLESS, will be introduced to viewers with his dark colour, piercing eyes, and lovable nature. He is indeed the dragon that the audience will irresistibly fall in love with.
Audiences will also get a glimpse into what it takes to bring these mythical beasts to life via animatronics and 'voodoo' puppetry. [...] Cast members Rarmian Newton, Riley Miner, Sarah McCreanor and Gemma Nguyen look at various aspects of the production and how the engineers and creative team mount a spectacle of this size - from the massive wall-to-floor projections, to the amazing flying rig, to the dragons themselves.
Yeah. It's pretty cool. So far, I've seen no dates for the arena show to appear in the US, but according to this article, there are arena shows being planned for Las Vegas as well.

UPDATE 2/5: It's out! Did you see it? That's okay, you can always use the Internet...

Four New Dragons for TV Show?

So it seems that Dreamworks has trademarked four new names, and they seem awfully dragonesque...

Squeep
Vornicarn
Coverton
Sta'abi

All of these trademarks were listed as "in connection with a character from an animated television show." Which means they're either about dragons or kung fu. And I'm not getting much of a kung fu feel from "Vornicarn."

Under Construction, But More to Come Soon!

Hey there people, I'm the other admin of this site, BlackRose108!

As you can see, this site is still pretty young and still going under some construction right now, but even though IcelandicEel and I are working hard, we thought, why keep all this news from you guys? IcelandicEel already posted some of the lovely things we found, but we definitely have more to share. Consider us to be rumor/spoiler hunters, if you will.

So, there will be a master post of all of the news we've found so far on the "Dragons" TV series and the sequels when this site is all finished, so stay tuned, it won't be too long of a wait, and it'll be worth it!

Character/Dragon profiles, forums, fanworks, links, and of course, the master post is coming soon!

(There's also a mission statement-like thing in the sidebar under About & Submit)

Second Season Confirmed

In a blog post last October, John Sanford revealed that he would be one of the directors for the Dragons TV show.
"We are attempting to emulate the movie in scale, scope, camera style, and emotional content. This is not easy on a tv budget (hell, it wasn’t easy on the budget they had for the movie) but we are committed to trying. Truthfully, I’m having a great time and have never felt more creatively involved and engaged in an animation project in my entire career."
This is similar to what HTTYD producer Tim Johnson said about the show in an interview last January.

John Sanford says that in addition to directing 7 episodes in the first season, he'll also be directing an "undecided number" from the second. It seems that if they are already divvying up the episodes, we can be pretty sure of a second season in 2013.

And although perhaps not as family appropriate as HTTYD, his webcomic, Chippy and Loopus, is actually quite funny. You should check it out. It's probably the closest you'll get to having a pet wolf-dog, seeing as they're illegal most places.
