DreamWorks panel at Comic-Con!

DreamWorks will be hosting a filmmaker panel on Thursday, July 18th at Comic-Con which will include How to Train Your Dragon 2! Earlier today, Stellar Imports tweeted a photo of Comic-Con pins for Turbo, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, and Dragons (above), but the tweet has since been taken down.

Is anyone here thinking of going to the panel?

Interview with School of Dragons producers

Today is exactly one year away from the premiere of How to Train Your Dragon 2! And in honor of the dragons, we have arranged an interview with the producers of School of Dragons, the online Dragons game!

Just like past interviews on this site, it's your job to submit the questions! If you have a question to ask, leave it as a comment on this post. Don't forget to upvote other people's questions if you think they are interesting so I know which ones to pick for the interview!

The best questions are ones about the process or ideas behind creating this game. If you want information about specific features of the game, check out their game guide. This is a great opportunity if you are interested in art, animation, or game design, so have fun!

UPDATE 6/25: Question submission is now closed.

Dragons T-shirt design contest!

A How to Train Your Dragon T-shirt design contest started today on WeLoveFine.com, with a grand prize of a three-day trip to DreamWorks Animation Studios in Los Angeles, as well as several other prizes!

Here is the submission link! Good luck! (The deadline is July 15th)

Feel free to post your art in the comments if you're looking for feedback or if you just want to show off your work! There are tons of amazing artists in this fandom, and it would be interesting to see what people are working on!

Dragons 2 appears at Annecy!

Earlier today, Dean DeBlois and Bonnie Arnold showed three clips and several exclusive behind-the-scenes images from How to Train Your Dragon 2, according to Variety!

As we have heard (and seen) before, the dragon trainers from the first movie will be aged-up to 19-20 years old from 14-15. The first clip shown at Annecy was the same one from Cinema-Con, which showed Hiccup and his squirrel suit.

The second clip included a "vigilante dragon-rider, with octopus-like tentacles emerging from his head," who seems to be an important character in the sequel.

In the third clip, we see Hiccup use a new sword, the dragon blade, which apparently gives him the power to trick dragons into thinking he is himself a dragon. He uses this to his advantage when the vigilante dragon-rider brings Hiccup to their lair.

Going down the checklist of informations we've discovered about Dragons 2, the only thing missing from Annecy is the "new dragon like no other."

UPDATE 6/12: Here is a descriptions of the clips and some sketches from someone who attended the WIP panel. They talk about Hiccup's new outfit, the fire sword, and mention a new character (the actual spelling of the character is "Erret"). Thanks, inhonoredglory!

If the footage shown at Annecy is released, it will be posted on this page!

School of Dragons: Exclusive Beta of New HTTYD Game

A new 3D dragon game is coming this month! It's called School of Dragons, and it seems to be the most realistic dragon training game released so far, and features the regular cast of characters as well as Spitelout, Phlegma the Fierce — and most interestingly — Heather the Alchemist.

The game will be released at Comic-Con this year, but if you want to try it out now, sign up for the beta. I only just registered, so I can't say how long it will take before you are allowed to make an account.

Check out some screenshots and descriptions of the game below the break.

Jay Baruchel interviewed about Dragons 2

In an interview today with Slashfilm, Jay Baruchel gave his thoughts on How to Train Your Dragon 2:
It took us three bloody years to do the first one so it’s a piecemeal process. I’ve been working on Dragon 2, on and off, for the past year and a half now. And boy is it ever something special. I truly adore the first one. I think it’s one of the greatest flicks ever. Period. And one of my proudest moments. So it’s no hyperbole when I say we smoke the first one with number two.

It’s going to be pretty incredible in every way. The emotional content, the action sequences, it’s everything it’s supposed to be and then some. It’s really going to be a pretty incredible, beautiful flick. People will go buy tickets, see this movie, and be taken on a journey like they’ve never been on.
