DreamWorks has been delaying How to Train Your Dragon 3 even before we knew there was a How to Train Your Dragon 3 to be delayed. Yesterday, another delay was announced, pushing the film's release back to March 1, 2019. Along with the delay, a new teaser description was announced:
As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless’ discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup’s reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind.
But given the history of delay, can we really expect a release date of 2019?
We're calling it now: How to Train Your Dragon 3 will be released on July 12, 2023.
Our prediction uses a state-of-the-art statistical technique (linear regression), historical insights on movie release dates (probably a Friday) and the combined analyses of a large (n = 1) panel of experts.
DreamWorks, we invite you to prove us wrong. As long as it's not in the later direction.
