  2. Wow, this is so exciting! I'm gonna do it for sure. Will there be a place where we can see everyone's submissions when it's all said and done?

This is an AWESOME idea. I hope the contest idea takes off.

  11. Well, I'm from Portugal and there does not exist the Dragons: The gift of the night fury :(...
But writing a story ... But how? Type is the continuation of the first film How To Train Your Dragon? If so, I own I've been writing a story like this ... Only it has a lot of drama and're not even halfway to finish! But even though I have finished, you could go to tender in the same? :)

Sorry my little bad english :/

    ReplyDelete
  12. And this story that I've been writing is written in Portuguese! Should I spend the whole story for English?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Neia Silva: I'm sorry but yes, the story has to be in English. We can't read other languages :(

And there is a limit to how long the story can be, so make sure it's not too long. 5,000 words is the maximum word count.

  14. Ok, I try to put in English and history that spans the whole space;) Tomorrow I will try soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Haha, you can take your time. You have until August 3rd :)

  16. Provided it's not against any rules, I'd be willing to help Neia and other English-as-second-language writers with editing out errors in their English drafts for submission. I've done it for plenty of overseas friends before (as well as the college paper, lol).

If you have a DA, just PM me at crownflame.deviantart.com and we can work something out.

I'm also Crownflame at the Night Fury's Den.

  17. That's a good idea! And no, it's not against the rules, go ahead! We don't want to exclude the people who aren't as fluent in writing English. :)

  18. Hey I have one question. Would you accept "novelized" scenes from the movie (or fill-in-the-blanks scenes), or does the story have to be original? I was just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Novelized scenes are good as long as there is something new, like an interesting insight into a character's actions or a retelling from another perspective (e.g., Forbidden Friendship from the perspective of the fish).

    ReplyDelete
  20. OK, great. Thanks :) In case I don't get to make a new scene, I now have something I wrote beforehand I can fall back on.

Forbidden Friendship from the fish... LOL, that won't last too long. XD

  21. Oh cool! I'm so gonna write this! :DD It'll probably only be a bout a thousand words. :D Oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  22. 1000 words is fine just as long as it's over 500 and under 5000 ^_^

    ReplyDelete
  23. Are you still having a fanart category contest?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't think so. There wasn't really enough momentum behind it. But I'll put up a "last chance" notice and see if there's still enough interest.

    ReplyDelete
  25. OK, that's a nice idea. Curious, about how many fanfic entries have you gotten?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Seven, so far. But two of those were submitted today, so it's hard to tell how many we'll get in total.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Actually, I don't think I'll be entering.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I have one (I know it's closed as it is old and well it says it at the name) but I think that it is far too long as the section I'm writing (Information and names) is already over 12,000 words and well the chapter where it is actually based on Berk (The first one for that matter as many other chapters are included on Berk) is also over approx. 20,000 words, well I'll get to work on it.
