Episode 101 - How to Start a Dragon Academy
Posted on Friday, August 31, 2012 by BlackRose108
| Berk's Dragon Academy |
Shortly after the events of the first movie, the dragons have finally come to live on Berk. Unfortunately they're a chaotic nuisance that constantly bothers the villagers and, frankly, everyone's getting sick of it. When local curmudgeon, Mildew, rallies up the village to force the "pesky dragons" out off the island, it's up to Hiccup and the rest of the Viking Teens to show them that although dragons are going to act within their nature, it can be used to the Viking's advantage.

Don't worry, though. All .blogspot.com links will still redirect to the new address. However, it may take Google some time to recognize our new address. So if you find this site via Google, don't worry if it disappears for a couple days. We haven't died or anything.
Other than that, enjoy our new home!
[UPDATED] New pictures from "Animal House"! And Titles for Episode 4-6 revealed!
Posted on Monday, August 27, 2012 by BlackRose108
4 new pictures were found on the About.com Riders of Berk picture database!
Although it's not completely confirmed all of these pictures come from "Animal House" (episode 3), or are even from the same episode. There's one screenshot that shows Hiccup and Astrid trapped in the snow shown above that we're sure is from the same episode as the Avalanche clip found a few weeks ago.
UPDATE: Episode 4 will apparently be named "Terrible Twos" [which we're guessing is about Torch and his mother].
Thanks Serimon for finding the title for episode 4!
UPDATE 2: Episode titles and descriptions for episodes 5 and 6 are here! Go to the "Episode List" on the Riders of Berk Overview page for more!
Click read more for...more (aka: the pictures).
[UPDATED] New 3D game "Wild Skies" IS HERE! And Episode 3 title revealed
Posted on Friday, August 24, 2012 by IcelandicEel
Reminder: You might need to install "Unity Web Player" to play.
Cartoon Network is releasing a new 3D game based on Riders of Berk. From the video it looks like you will be able to create and customize a Viking avatar and you will have the opportunity to train your own digital dragons.
Not only that, it looks like Cartoon Network will add new dragons to the game as they are introduced in the series. Here's their description:
Think you've got what it takes to be a rider of Berk? Put your skills to the test! Blaze your own path as a dragon trainer. Explore the island, train wild dragons, and take flight in awesome aerial challenges!
Also, you may have already seen it in the sidebar, but it looks like the next episode of Riders of Berk will be called "Animal House." Does this mean Viking fraternities? Oh gods.Ride the dragons you love from the movies: Gronckle, Deadly Nadder, Monstrous Nightmare, Hideous Zippleback, and Night Fury! Plus, watch for new dragon species from the series. Every time a new dragon appears in the show, you'll be able to train it in the game! — blog.cartoonnetwork.com
UPDATE: I found a second video of the game. Wander past the page break to see it.
SOMEWHAT UNRELATED UPDATE 2: Found a screenshot of Episode 3 on the CN server as well as the title to the next episode!
UPDATE 3: A few new logos and screencaps from the game!
UPDATE 4: The game will be released "early next week." The game studio calls it one of the coolest games they have ever made. It looks like it will be written using the Unity game engine.
UPDATE 5: A couple more pictures.
UPDATE 6: Here's a blog post from one of the people who made the game. They call the game a "a basic flight simulator of sorts." (Thanks to StaticTheSkrill!)
UPDATE 7: The Game is Here!!!
DreamWorks building a Dragons theme park
Posted on Thursday, August 23, 2012 by IcelandicEel
DreamWorks is planning to build an indoor theme park in northern New Jersey. According to this article, they hope to open the park in 2014, just in time for the sequel.
Along with characters from How to Train Your Dragon, the park will feature those from Kung Fu Panda and Shrek. The theme park may be similar to the somewhat unknown Dragons attraction at Ocean Park in Hong Kong (the picture above), which opened after the film was released.
I don't know about everyone else, but I'm hoping for a Night Fury roller coaster.
Thanks to Francesva for the pictures!
Exclusive: Slavic raiders in Dragons 2
Posted on Monday, August 20, 2012 by IcelandicEel
In an exclusive interview, an anonymous commenter from DreamWorks told us a few things about what to expect in the sequel to How to Train Your Dragon, and how the films will tie in with the TV series.
By the way, this is the largest piece of information we (or anyone else) have ever found about the sequel. So enjoy it, because you're probably the first people outside DreamWorks to know.

Height question resolved
Posted on Sunday, August 19, 2012 by IcelandicEel
It's one of the most important questions of our time: who is taller, Hiccup or Astrid? In the film it looked like Astrid was taller. In Gift of the Night Fury, suddenly Hiccup looked taller. But what's the real answer?
Yes.

New dragon toys?
Posted on Thursday, August 16, 2012 by IcelandicEel
It looks like we may be getting a new set of How to Train Your Dragon toys! This set features some of the new dragons from the "Book of Dragons" short and, according to the website we found, will be sold by Spin Master just like the first set of toys.
The prototypes, which were created by Mana Studios, supposedly have 14-inch wingspans. Now those are some giant dragons (relatively speaking)!

Mark Hamill talks about his role as Alvin
Posted on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 by IcelandicEel
According to the source article, this was recorded shortly after Comic-Con. Mark Hamill will be playing Alvin the Treacherous in Riders of Berk.
And here's a bonus playlist we found on the Cartoon Network site. It's really badly written and features at least one embarrasing typo. Can you find it?

A comic book for Riders of Berk

And that something is a comic book based on Riders of Berk. If you're on Tumblr, you may have seen some of these awesome images floating around. We saw a tweet about it a while back, but thought it was a joke. Turns out it wasn't.
The book will be published by Ape Entertainment, and will probably look something like the kung Fu Panda comic book. According to a tweet by James Silvani (below), it probably won't be as "dark" as the TV show, but judging by the art we've seen, it's going to look pretty awesome anyway.

Someone find the source of these mysterious images
Posted on Thursday, August 02, 2012 by IcelandicEel
These may be images from the hour-long sneak peek, they may be from Comic-Con, or they may be from completely original footage. Here's what the poster said about them:
It's now less than a week until the sneak peek, but I can't figure out why Cartoon Network keeps using stuff from the movies in order to promote the show. I may be wrong, but I don't think Nickelodeon did that with their DreamWorks shows. I could understand them doing that months ago, but it's about to premiere and they have plenty of complete footage. The show holds up well enough on its own anyway. At least it does look like they're going to start using in-show stuff on the website promotions, as is evident by these screenshots. — SourceThere's a good chance they are from the Cartoon Network site because of the cloudy background, but no one on the Night Fury's Den has seen it yet.
We'll update when more is found.
Thanks to skrill!
